The interesting story behind the name was revealed by the grandson of Dada Saheb Phalke the father of Indian Cinema. Chandra Shekhar Pusalkar Phalke says that when Himanshu Rai and Rajnarayan Dube were searching the name for the company Dube ji’s mother asked him what is the hurdle in your work and why are you so tense. After getting to know about their problem she said we are blessed by Mumbadevi so let's keep the name of the studio as Mumbadevi or the synonym of her name.
